Forging dreams and empowering women in Colombia. La Juanfe is positioned as a benchmark of transformation in the lives of thousands of young women in Cartagena and Medellín. Through our 360° model, we break the cycles of poverty that surround teenage mothers in Colombia and manage the tools to build a prosperous future for them and their families. By 2023, we will impact more than 7,915 people through our commitment to education, psychosocial reparation, strengthening the maternal role and dignified and sustainable employment, which are the pillars that support our intervention model. The young women not only receive technical job training, but also find a space of healthy accompaniment that encourages them to achieve their dreams. In addition, through our sexual and reproductive health modules, they acquire vital knowledge about their rights and experience a transformation in their relationships, based on respect, responsibility and a commitment to reduce subsequent pregnancy rates. During 2023, we had great allies who shared their commitment to social transformation and together, we managed dreams and empowered more women to develop their life projects. Bringing Juanfe to unimaginable populations such as Venezuelan refugees and migrants belonging to our Transformemos Sin Fronteras program, in cooperation with the N. Conrad Hilton Foundation. We are proud to share the results of our hard and committed work and are convinced that investing in women is the path to equity, social transformation and empowerment. WW4W: Celebrating a Decade of Female Empowerment

Female empowerment transcends borders and generations, and the Women Working for the World Forum is one of the prominent spaces to expand conversations on gender and sustainable social development. This year, on its tenth anniversary, the event, which gathers world-renowned speakers to address crucial topics such as sustainability, gap reduction, empowerment, and philanthropy, shone brighter than ever. With an attendance of 1,000 people, the WW4W Forum was held at the Hall 74 event center of Sergio Arboleda University. Among the featured speakers were Maickel Melamed, strategic mentor, and results accelerator; Tina Wells, entrepreneur, bestselling author, speaker, and brand creator who believes that harmony between work and personal life is key to improving life; Alix Lebec, founder, and CEO of Lebec Consulting; Megan Bambiano, director of Elevate Prize Foundation; and Mona Sinha, global executive director of Equality Now. Each from their respective areas of expertise shared visions and experiences that aim towards building a fairer, more equitable, and diverse world. The event was also a platform for inclusion and collaboration. We are proud to mention that we had the presence of 100 women from the “Las Manzanas del Cuidado” program of the Bogotá Women’s Secretariat, who joined the conversation and enriched the dialogue with their unique experiences and perspectives. With a 10-year history in Bogotá, the WW4W Forum continues to strengthen its commitment to gender equality in Colombia and around the world. And, as part of our promise of regional expansion and inclusion, we are pleased to announce that in May of this year, the Forum will come to Medellín for the first time, thus bringing its message of hope and action to new audiences and communities. The WW4W Forum is not just an event; it is a movement that awakens consciousness, inspires actions, and creates a space for change. Let us continue building together a more equitable and sustainable future.

Transforming Lives: The Impact of Our Model

We have been tirelessly working to break the cycles of poverty and transform lives in Colombia. Through our comprehensive 360° model, we have successfully impacted thousands of individuals across the country. In 2023, there were 68,896 births to teenage mothers in Colombia, representing 16% of the total births in the country. We have reached over 290,000 vulnerable communities, including more than 6,000 teenage mothers, with our model. Only 30% of young mothers are able to access higher education. However, through our program, 1,972 young women have been certified in technical vocational training, and 621 teenage mothers have secured their first formal jobs in the last three years. While the unemployment rate for women in Colombia was 11.6% in the last quarter of 2023, teenage mothers enrolled in Juanfe have a 79% higher chance of accessing formal employment compared to those not participating in our program. As of this year, according to the General Attorney’s Office bulletin 108-2024, 84 alerts for domestic or partner violence have been reported in Colombia. In light of this reality, we work alongside the families of our young women to promote healthy family environments. Thanks to counseling, 18,000 family members have benefited. Additionally, we have created a manual for the prevention of gender-based violence re-victimization. These figures demonstrate the positive impact and significance of our work in combating poverty and reducing gender gaps in Colombia. Your ongoing commitment to social transformation and women’s empowerment is changing lives and creating a brighter future for all.”
